MARKET SURVEY

IDEATION AND BUCKS

Based on existing studies and our own research, we found the formula for a truly versatile spatula. Cooking requires the hand and wrist to move in a variety of ways. The wrist moves up and down, side to side, and it rotates. We discovered that the ideal spatula has a 9.8” curved handle and a 25 degree angle. These specifications help to minimize the harmful effects of repetitive motion.

Our handle circumference is 4” which allows for a comfortable and flexible grip . Additionally, our spatula features a three sided blade that allows food to be scooped from any direction and can be used by both righties and lefties. The neutral design is ideal for stir frying, flipping and scraping.

PROCESS TREE

Rooted works in partnership with local olive tree plantations that provide sustainably harvested branches. The sawdust, off-cuts, and chips from production are repurposed for our ink-free packaging: a lyocell bag, mycelium padding and a recycled cardboard box. Lyocell is a fabric made from wood chips with nearly 0% production waste and is 100% biodegradable. Mycelium is a fungus that acts as a glue, bonding wood particles together as it grows. Rooted is a self sufficient company, that does everything from wood processing to hand crafting, and up-cycled packaging all while supporting local businesses. The spatula is finally sealed in an all natural, sustainable, FDA approved mineral oil and beeswax combination.
